For Students

Whatever studies students at Bangor are undertaking, Pontio offers all kinds of experiences. These can range from hands-on activities such as volunteering or taking part in shows both on stage and behind the scenes, to undertaking research or acting as trainee tutors. Sometimes it’s about switching off from academic life too – catching a film, losing yourself in music or dance, because after all – Uni life is about the whole experience.

Exclusive Student Offers

Pontio is not only a home to your lectures and study space –  we also bring you the very best performances from Wales and across the world, from top comedians to dance, drama and live music. Our 200 seater cinema is also a great place to switch off and enjoy blockbusters, independent films and live satellite screenings. We offer exclusive ticket prices for students on many shows and cinema screenings, so take a look at what’s coming up to whet your appetite!

We can also arrange group discounts if academic departments want to attend a particular production.

Home to Students Union

Pontio is also home to the Students’ Union. Situated within the building itself, it is at the centre of campus life and only a stone’s throw away from Bangor’s High Street with its shops, pubs and restaurants.

Opportunities

Thanks to the Pontio facility, students now have a first rate venue in which to stage their productions – from dance to musicals, music and drama, as well as presenting their own films. We work closely with the Students Union’s sabbatical officers and staff to offer opportunities to Bangor’s vibrant student societies.

Clubs and societies that have performed at Pontio include:

• SODA, Bangor Muscial Theatre Society
• BU Dance
• BEDS, English Language Drama Society
• Symphony Orchestra
• Chamber Choir
• Music Society Orchestra and Choir
• Brass Band
• Concert Band
• Jazz Society
• Ukelele Society
• Pole Fit Society
• Chinese Orchestra - Shandong
• Bangor Ffilm Society
• Neuadd JMJ Choir
• John Gwilym Jones Society, Welsh Drama
