Pontio is an accessible venue and we have a range of services to make your visit more enjoyable.

If you have any additional needs, or questions about your visit please get in touch. We will always try to accommodate requests and welcome any feedback about our access provision.

Hynt Card
If you need support or assistance to attend a performance at a theatre or arts centre then you may be eligible to join Hynt. To become a Hynt member and receive your Hynt Card you will need to apply through the scheme’s application process.

You can apply online via Hynt’s website here https://www.hynt.co.uk/en/join/become-a-member/ or you can collect forms from our box office team. Our team at the venue can assist with the forms but we ask that you arrange a time to come in so that we can ensure a staff member is available. You can do this by calling 01248 382828 or emailing info@pontio.co.uk

Parking for Blue-Badge Holders
There are 11 designated disabled parking spaces; parking is free for disabled badge holders within these spaces. To access the car park turn up Glanrafon Road which is adjacent to Pontio and the car park is available on the left.

You will find a lift on every level of the building. The lifts are able to carry between 8 and 21 persons and are large enough to carry a wheelchair or buggy. All lifts have tactile buttons installed.

The building has 6 levels with 149 stairs in total:
Lefel 0 – 1 = Main Staircase x 20 steps Ffynnon Staircase x 19 steps
Lefel 1 – 2 = 22 steps
Lefel 2 – 3 = 30 steps
Lefel 3 – 4 = 24 steps
Lefel 4 – 5 = 35 steps
Lefel 5 – 6 = 18 steps
Total = Main Staircase x 149 steps; Ffynnon Staircase x 148 steps

Handrails are available on all stairs throughout the building.

There are several permanent ramps throughout the building providing access to people with wheelchairs and pushchairs. There is also an outside ramp from the Drop-off point up to the main entrance.

Pontio staff and stewards speak multiple languages. All Welsh speaking staff and stewards will wear a Welsh language badge.

Facilities and Services

Accessible toilets are available on levels 0, 1, 3 and 5 of the building and are signposted.

Baby Changing Facilities
Baby changing facilities are available in the toilets on level 0 (ladies), 1 (ladies and mens) and 5 (mens).

Our cloakroom is situated at the Box Office. Here you can drop your coat off prior to a performance. This is free of charge but donations are welcome to the University’s chosen charity, Ty Gobaith/Hope House.

Dedicated wheelchair spaces are available in the Theatr Bryn Terfel, Studio, Cinema and Lecture Rooms. Please request use of these spaces when booking your tickets over the phone.

Assisted Hearing Facilities
Subtitles and Audio Description
We are please to offer a number of subtitled screenings each month in English for customers who are hard of hearing. Look out for the ‘Subtitles’ in the listings.
Infra Red audio description is available on all titles with ‘AD’ in the main synopsis of the film booklet. Contact Box Office for further information 01248 38 28 28

Blind or visually impaired
If you would like a large print version or audio copy of the seasons brochures please contact us.

Assistance Dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome into Pontio. Please request use of these spaces when booking your tickets.

Relaxed Performances/cinema screenings
These are open to everyone but specifically designed to welcome people who will benefit from a more relaxed performance environment, be that due to an Autism Spectrum condition, a learning disability, or a fear of the dark, loud noises or confined spaces. There is a relaxed attitude to noise and movement and some small changes made to the light and sound effects. We'll keep the lights on low and turn the volume down slightly.

Breastfeeding is welcome at Pontio and we have plenty of spaces available around the building.
