Shakespeare's Globe are back!

Pericles | The Comedy of Errors | Twelfth Night

Following last year’s success, Shakespeare’s Globe on Tour return to Pontio and present a trio of plays exploring the themes of refuge and displacement. The plays are performed as a touring production would have been staged in the 17th century, with a stripped back booth stage, and a small, versatile troupe of actors. Taking on multiple roles across all three plays and playing musical instruments to boot, the talented cast will unravel these timeless tales of those who have crossed seas and lost their families, are seeking lost homes, and finding out what belonging truly means to them.

The Comedy of Errors
Take one pair of estranged twin brothers (both named Antipholus) and one pair of estranged twin servants (both named Dromio), both pairs separated at sea. Add a dash of mistaken identity and throw them into a city with a reputation for sorcery, and you have all the ingredients for theatrical chaos…

Pericles
The spirit of fairy tale is never far from the surface of Pericles, the first of Shakespeare’s late romances. Imbued with music, miracles, and the constant presence of the sea, this little-seen work sees Pericles, Prince of Tyre, forced to flee his own kingdom and wander the world.

Twelfth Night
When a shipwreck tears a family apart, twins Sebastian and Viola seek refuge in a new land. Filled with unforgettable characters, Twelfth Night combines cruelty with high comedy and the pangs of unrequited love with subtle poetry, expressed through some of Shakespeare’s most exquisite songs.

Audience Choice
What’s it like to go to the theatre and not know what you’re going to see? Take part in Shakespeare’s Globe’s democratic theatrical experiment to find out! It will be up to you to vote for which of the three plays on offer you want to see. Choose between The Comedy of Errors, Pericles and Twelfth Night. The rules are simple: the loudest cheer wins, and the action starts straight away. Actors call it ‘terrifying’, audiences say it’s ‘exhilarating.’ So scream and shout as loud as you can for the play you want to see. This is an experience that you do not want to miss.

The Saturday performance at 3pm will be a performance of The Comedy of Errors, all other performances will be the audience's choice.

The Globe Experience
Never afraid of a challenge, on Sunday 7 July we'll set about transforming Theatr Bryn Terfel to offer that unique 'Globe' experience, with standing positions available as well as seats. You’ll be able to come and go to the bar as you please so bring your friends/family and make a night of it!
